Legal Working Hours

Article (73) of the Labor Law states that the maximum normal working hours are 48 hours per week (8 hours per day). During the month of Ramadan, this is reduced to 36 hours per week.

Calculating Overtime

If the employer asks the employee to work extra hours, they must be compensated as follows:

• Normal Days: Normal hourly wage + an increase of not less than 25% of the basic wage.
• Night Work (9 PM – 3 AM): Normal hourly wage + an increase of not less than 50% (excluding shift workers).
• Work on Rest Day (Friday): If the employee works on their rest day, they must be granted a substitute rest day or paid their basic wage + an increase of not less than 150%.

Maximum Limit

Actual working hours (including overtime) may not exceed 10 hours per day except in cases of extreme necessity to prevent gross loss.
